Custom Software and Apps for Los Angeles Businesses

A production company tracking what a performer agreed to, a consumer brand putting an assistant on its storefront, an importer drowning in shipping documents: Los Angeles software problems are specific, and so are the California rules around some of them. We build web apps, mobile apps and AI features for that kind of work.

What do Los Angeles companies need from a software development firm?

They need software that fits the industry it serves. For a studio that may mean tracking what each digital replica clause permits; for a consumer brand, a storefront assistant that says it is a bot; for a trade business, documents checked against shipments. A good firm scopes those requirements before it writes code.

Digital replicas and what a contract allows

Since January 1, 2025, California Labor Code 927 makes a contract provision allowing a digital replica of a performer's voice or likeness, in place of work they would otherwise have done in person, unenforceable for new performances unless it includes a reasonably specific description of the intended uses, or the performer was represented by legal counsel or a union in the ways the statute sets out. For a studio or agency adopting generative tools, that turns contract terms into data the production has to respect:

  • →A record of each performer's replica terms: which uses were described, for which project, and under what representation.
  • →A check before a replica asset is generated or reused, against the uses that record allows.
  • →An audit trail showing which asset was produced, from what, and for which use.

Whether a given clause is enforceable is a question for your counsel. Building the record and the check is software work, and on regulated builds we scope it in the design phase.

Storefront assistants that say what they are

Business and Professions Code 17941 makes it unlawful to use a bot to communicate with a person in California online with intent to mislead them about its artificial identity in order to incentivize a sale, and a clear, conspicuous disclosure that it is a bot avoids that liability. A shopping or support assistant should therefore say it is automated from the first message, and the disclosure should be part of the design rather than an afterthought.

We build those assistants on Anthropic or OpenAI models, chosen per engagement, and wire them into the systems behind the store. We have integrated Shopify, Stripe, Twilio and the major email platforms in production. Our e-commerce page covers the back-office and storefront work we take on.

Trade and logistics near the Port of Los Angeles

The Port of Los Angeles is a department of the City of Los Angeles, covering 7,500 acres of land and water in San Pedro Bay, and its terminals handle container, automobile, breakbulk, bulk and cruise traffic. Importers, customs brokers, drayage firms and warehouses around it handle bills of lading, delivery orders and invoices from many other companies on every shipment. Our logistics page describes the document and exception work we build for that kind of operation.

Healthcare and biosciences

The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation also names healthcare and biosciences among the county's industry clusters. The health software we build includes patient intake, scheduling and patient communication. If the work touches protected health information, we sign a business associate agreement and build to HIPAA's safeguards. More on that is on our healthcare page.

How an engagement works

01

Workflow Audit

We map your existing processes against current AI capabilities in the 90-minute AI workflow audit, identifying exactly where automation creates measurable ROI. The audit is complimentary when it is bundled with a larger build and available as a paid one-off on its own.

02

Build Sprint

A scoped build against a written scope. Prototype, staging, and deployment milestones are agreed in the written scope. Most large builds are fixed-price, with a monthly retainer after launch.

03

Launch + Support

Deployment and handover. Post-launch support and maintenance are scoped per engagement.

Common questions from Los Angeles businesses

Does our chat assistant have to tell customers it is a bot?

California law makes it unlawful to use a bot online with intent to mislead a person about its artificial identity to drive a sale, and a clear disclosure avoids that liability. An assistant built for California shoppers should say it is automated from the first message; your counsel confirms the wording.

Can you build tools that track digital replica permissions?

Yes. The record of what each performer agreed to, the check before a replica asset is generated, and the audit trail afterwards are ordinary software, built around the contract terms your legal team sets.

Can you work with our Shopify store and payment setup?

Yes. Shopify and Stripe are among the systems we have integrated in production, along with Twilio and the major email platforms.

What time difference will we work across?

Three hours: Los Angeles is on Pacific time and we are based in Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, on Eastern time.
